A perfect guide from a not-so-perfect senior

Trekking senior year can be a difficult thing, people are changing more than ever, the realization that this is your last year as a kid is apparent, and there is so much to do in so little time. Seniors don’t have the full 180 days that every other grade has, which makes things so much more stressful when it comes to deadlines, friendships, and coming to grips with life. To reduce the stress that all seniors are sure to have; based off of my own mistakes and unknowings, I have come up with a list of things all incoming seniors should consider:
- Do NOT take a full schedule
As someone who takes nearly a full schedule, take my word. Senioritis is not a good combination with a full schedule, and at some point in your senior year, you will get senioritis. If you do take a full schedule, make sure you work on the management that goes behind it. Stay focused on deadlines and dont forget to have fun in your classes!
- Make the most of school events
Go to the football games, participate in events, live in the moment. Eventually these will all go away, so its important that you go and experience the last moments of highschool
- Navigate college early
College application season will be one of the most stressful times in your high school times. Make sure you understand how to use application apps like Common App before deadlines are due. Tour every college and never shrug your nose at colleges! Good luck, you got this!
- Every opportunity is a good one
Put yourself out there! It’s your last year in high school, so make the most of every opportunity given. Opportunities can open the door to new friendships and new experiences.
- Take pictures
One thing I regret is not capturing the moments more. As cheesy as it may sound, those photos will be with you forever for the most memorable year of your teens. They’ll laast you forever.
- Be the true authentic you
In 180 days, you’ll never see most of these people again, so be you and be you unapologetically.
- Have fun!
This is your last year as a teenager, make the most of every moment and situation! Take risks and be you. Enjoy every single moment, cause eventually they’ll run out.
Senior year is going to be an experience no matter what, it’s up to you to decide how it will go. Hopefully the advice from former seniors can steer you in a better way, but ultimately, it’s your year. Have fun and cherish it!
