The three year feud between the Fisher brothers is finally wrapping up as the final season of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” lays friendships, relationships and marriage bare. Jenny Han, the original author and director, has finalized her three season show based on her book series. Brothers, Jeremiah and Conrad Fisher, both fight for the love of their close family friend Belly Conklin. Although the love triangle troupe has been done numerous times, this show pins two brothers against each other, adding even more tension and excitement.
Season three, of the beloved show, has truly been a whirlwind. In the first couple episodes the viewers see the Belly they’ve come to know and love, however the ending episodes take a turn as Belly changes with her move to Paris. The show begins with Belly forgiving Jeremiah then agreeing to marry him. As the episodes progress Belly becomes more and more weighed down by pressure, sacrifices and the troubles of losing a relationship with her mom. Eventually, after she comes to her senses, Belly leaves for Paris after the wedding is called off. In France, she finds new friends and builds herself back up, becoming stronger and more likable as a self respecting character.
Conrad was surely the star of the season, with many fans commenting online about his pursuing efforts toward Belly. Jeremiah fans were switching sides as Conrad’s love for Belly was proved to be pure. In previous seasons, it’s apparent that Conrad respects his brother’s relationship with Belly, however in this season he loses touch with that side of himself as he becomes borderline obsessed with winning her back. Fortunately he regains consciousness and rebuilds his relationship with Jeremiah before flying to Paris to take his final shot at Belly.

Jeremiah had a rough season. Between his attempts to prove himself to his father and prepare to be a husband, he becomes stressed and angry, ruining his relationships with lots of his friends. By the final episode, he cleans up his act and finds a hobby he enjoys to put his energy into; cooking!
The sideplot couple, Taylor and Steven, went for a wild ride this season, too. As Steven explores new relationships and focuses on his job, Taylor was left acting prideful and annoyed, continuing this slow burn very slowly. As their tension remains strong throughout the seasons it reaches its peak in the last few episodes where they heavily lean on each other to comfort Jeremiah. Fortunately, they receive their happily ever after.
Whether you’re team Bonrad or Jellyfish, it’s impossible not to enjoy this season. Even as the show wraps up, fans are still excited for the upcoming movie that has yet to be released. The anticipation continues to grow as the release date hasn’t been announced yet. But don’t forget, as best learned through Conrad Fisher, “a man who yearns, earns!”
