A review of the Fallout tv series new season
Andre Garcia Feature/Q+A
The Fallout Tv series on Amazon prime just concluded their second season. Based on the popular games but specifically based in the game “Fallout new Vegas” The Tv show has received much praise online and well as a lot of criticism. Overall though the season has received a 96% on rotten tomatoes and a 83% on IMDB. What makes this season so special as to receive these ratings though?

To get the obvious out the way, many people love the accuracy the show has to the actual New Vegas game. The guns, scenery and factions all align up pretty much perfectly with what you would encounter in the fallout games. This really helps to appeal to its target audience (fallout players who have played the games). This isn’t the only thing that makes this season so good though. The writing is what helped bring new viewers who have never gotten a chance to play the Fallout games. There are multiple plots (usually 2 or 3 an episode) which are all near equally entertaining with loveable characters. They all serve to push the main narrative forward and sometimes intertwine which settles the buildup they created in a masterful way. The way the show throws in game elements but doesn’t make it to where you need to play the game in order to enjoy the show is very unique and excellent. The characters and they change overtime are really enjoyable to watch. In the series “Cooper Howard”, “The Ghoul” “Lucy” and “Maximus” are the 4 main protagonists we get to see wander the world. The interactions and decisions they have to make give many moral dilemmas to the viewer and challenge their perceptions of what is “good”. Even though this isn’t the most unique thing that a show has put out the way fallout does it is still entertaining for the viewer.

As for how Season 2 compares to Season 1 they are pretty equal in quality. Season 1 really focused on the wasteland itself and how it changes people especially Lucy while Season 2 is more about the lasting effects of the wasteland and the fight against the villain introduced in Season 1. Throughout Season 1 the viewer gets introduced to 2 major factions in the wasteland being the NCR (New California Republic) and the Brotherhood of Steel. In season 2 however it goes a bit more in depth with the 2 factions more particularly on The Brotherhood of Steel and it also introduces the Caesars legion. Season 2 also continues with the unfinished plots that season 1 laid the foundation of. One great example of that is norm and his story in the wasteland. The production quality of the show stays the same between the seasons as well which is nice.

There have been a varied amount of reactions to season 2. Many people think that the season is great. An example of this would be demonstrated with an MSN article titled “How Fallout’s season 2 finale sets up a potential duo I really want to see” In the article its basically just explaining how they like the plot points and characters season 2 set up (specifically the ones about Mr. house) and how they would like to see more of it. There are a select few other people who have a problem with season 2 however. An example being with the youtuber called “BrainPilot” in the video “Why Fallout Season 2 felt Different…” In the video he makes some points like how “the way the story was told felt more congested and cluttered” meaning there where so many plot points and storylines that the writers had to manage in one season and it felt like they couldn’t keep up with the pressure. Overall though the feedback for Fallout season 2 has been great and many people are excited for season 3.
