It’s a story written before, a child actor enters the music scene, but new hit sensation Sabrina Carpenter is re-writing that tale. Over the summer, ex-Disney star turned pop princess Sabrina Carpenter released her 12 song album, “Short n’ Sweet.” This album does both, catchy pop as well as sultry and slow.

Carpenter opens up her 36 minute album with the spiteful song, “Taste.” The song enforces the feelings of moving on after a break-up and the jealousy that comes with it. While this song is considered pop, it uses different sounds than an average pop song, by enforcing the bass lines and somewhat slowing the already fast tempo down. “Taste,” also was one of three songs to be made into a music video, making it a deserved feature for the album.

The next song, “Please Please Please,” was the second single to be released off of the album. Carpenter taps an R&B sound with this song. Considering all songs on the album, “Please Please Please” is one of the top songs that truly highlights the depths of Carpenter’s vocals. Like “Taste,” “Please Please Please” also received a music video which captivated fans as it featured Carpenters actor beau, Barry Keoghan.

“Good Graces,” reverts to the traditional pop sound that fans have known from Carpenter’s previous works. With a bridge that is sure to give you an earworm, this song adds to Carpenter’s pop princess persona.

Carpenter slows the record down with the song “Coincidence,” taking a mellow tone on a sticky situation in a relationship. This song in general highlights Carpenters silky smooth vocals and the control she holds on her ranges..

The record as a whole acts as a monumental stepping stone in Carpenter’s career. A good handful of the tracks have blown up on social media and radio stations, really pushing her name out into the world. Overall, her 12 track album was a great listening experience and left people wanting more.
