On December 13th, 2024, the newest rendition of the Marvel comic “Kraven the Hunter” came to the big screen. Richard Wenk was hired to write the screenplay for this movie on August 18th, and did a phenomenal job. The movie was directed by J.C. Chandor, who has directed many other successful movies such as “Margin Call” (2011) and “All is Lost” (2013). The main character in this movie is Kraven, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Taylor-Johnson did an amazing job portraying many emotions throughout the entirety of the movie. 

At the beginning of the movie, Kraven’s younger self is played by 22 year old actor Levi Miller. Miller did an outstanding job with switching his dialect from Russian to English.To fans, it is crucial that the movie adaptation of the Marvel comics is done accurately and correctly, and Richard Wenk and J.C. Chandor did a very good job of doing so.

The casting, production, SFX, development, script are very important when developing a movie.The casting in this movie was perfect, Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s (Kraven/Sergei Kravinoff) physique was his strong suit. Russel Crowe’s (Nikoli Kravinoff) looks and being fluent in Italian helped him portray an intimidating Russian gangster. Levi Miller (Young Sergei Kravinoff) mostly had his younger looks and baby face to help him play his role as a younger version of Kraven. Alessandro Nivola (Aleksei Sytsevich/Rhino) had a big role trying to replicate Rhino, the iconic Spider-man universe villain. 

Plot points in the movie stood out while watching because the SFX crew were very creative when designing backdrops, illusions,and the overall atmosphere. The film ended up costing $110 million dollars to produce with a budget of $200 million dollars and was reportedly co-financed by TSG. Through many eyes, the film was seen as a “commercial disappointment”. With this information, A sequel of “Kraven The Hunter” is not on the radar as of right now. 

A simple evaluation for this film is that it is a great movie if you love action and a slight bit of gore. This movie is an hour and fifty nine minutes long, and every second in the movie was worth it. It was well put together and every sequence made sense. Seeing this film in theaters would give you the full experience of surround sound and with the big screen.
