The 2024-2025 school year at NHS is officially coming to an end. That means staff and students will be finding themselves, reflecting on the good and bad throughout the year. These closing weeks with surely be overflowing with a bundle of emotions like excitement, sadness, nostalgia, and many more. Students are preparing for exams and a load of projects while teachers are assessing students’ hard work. Teachers are finishing up their curriculum that they taught this year and preparing for their vacation.

This time is a representation of every student’s hard work, determination, and dedication towards school. Students can go back through time in this year and realize the progress and growth they’ve made throughout this year. Major changes were made to the schedule, and things were being adjusted as the school year went on. Some people had comments on these changes, good and bad, but in the end it all worked out.

I went around the school and asked a couple of students their thoughts on this year. They were asked “How do you think you did this year?”  “How did some of the changes made this year affect you.” & “would you make any special changes to some of the things in the school?” After going around the school and finding interviewees this is what was said.

The vast majority of the students interviewed were mostly repeating the same things. These consist of how their grades were, teachers affecting their grades, etc. But the main thing affecting students and staff was the confusing schedule. NHS just recently adapted the confusing schedule for the 2024-2025 school year, and it can be hard to understand and adjust to. Students stated that the first 3 period were easy to grasp but when lunches start, that’s when everything gets confusing.

Another thing that was mentioned a lot was the phone rule. Both good and bad things were said were speaking about the phone rule. One thing supporting the phone rule is that it points out an addiction for students and helps them be held accountable for not following rules. But people not supporting the rule considered it useless and harsh. Both sides gave good reasoning for their thought process, but we will see if there are any changes next year.
