The hit movie Beetlejuice, from the late 80’s, is one of the many films that has been renewed in the early 21st century. The new movie follows the main character Lydia Deetz, and how her life has been since the events that occurred in the first movie, and it brings new characters and new additions into her family. The new hit movie is titled Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, and many people have been wondering if it compares to the original.

Both movies do share a similar cast list, such as Winona Rider and Micheal Keaton still being main stars, as well as Catherine O’Hara also staying in the franchise. Though new actors have made an appearance, such as Jenna Ortega, who has been raining in fame since her hit show Wednesday. Her character in the movie is Lydia Deetz’s daughter, who does not believe that her mother can see ghosts. Most updated movies can change the cast too much, leaving the story confusing and making it nothing like the original, while Beetlejuice Beetlejuice has the perfect blend of new actors and old actors.

Jenna Ortega played Astrid Deetz very well,  given her love for horror and films she has starred in with the darker aspects. Her hit show “Wednesday” hit number one on the watchlist podium on Netflix right away, and she also starred in a movie titled “X” which was a part of a semi-popular horror trilogy. Roles like this made her appeal more to directors with a twisted gothic way of working, like Tim Burton.

There was also a very popular face which played a big part in the movie, Monica Bellucci. Straight from the modeling industry, she stunned the audience with her beautiful and electric appearance on screen. Her role in the film undoubtedly added more depth to the plot. Her gothic and borderline horrifying presence throughout the film makes you more engaged, as her character plays Beetlejuice ex-wife, who he met during the bubonic plague. She provides plot twists along with a haunting yet intriguing appearance making you wonder what exactly she will pull next to get her revenge.

In many stores a lot of merchandise is being released due to the premier and showings of the film. Stores like Target, Spirit Halloween, Five Below, Hot Topic, and more are all selling their own “Beetlejuice” apparel and merchandise. With the sales of these items, attention to the film has followed.

If you like odd and funky movies, just like the first rendition of “Beetlejuice”, then this is a perfect film for you. With the editing, the storyline, the new and old actors, you will be on the edge of your seat the whole time, waiting to see what will happen next.
