Wordle, found on the New York Times site, is a popular daily word game in which players have six chances to guess a five-letter word. Yellow and Green squares acting as hints to help players piece together the puzzle and figure out the mystery word. For some, this game can get very serious. Streaks are formed as players continuously get the daily words correct. But, there was one Wordle in particular which threw off many, sparking outrage online. On December 19, 2025, Wordle #1644 had it’s “hardest word yet” said reddit users under r/Wordle. The word myrrh was the downfall for many players streaks, containing zero vowels, double letters, and unique order. A month later, and players upset remains, but so does curiosity as to what Wordle obscurities will occur in 2026.
