As the “Leader of the Free World,” The President of the United States is expected to act professionally and with a general degree of “decorum.” Over the nearly 300 years since the birth of the nation, there have been many controversial Presidents–but a few stand out for a particular quality they are considered to lack: Professionalism. Lyndon B. Johnson, for example, gained a somewhat infamous reputation in recent years for his “Johnson Treatment,” where he would use any tactic possible–including his large height–to influence and intimidate lawmakers and officials. This was exemplified by crass and inappropriate behavior, taking out and making jokes about his extremities in front of members of government, according to Forbes and History Collection.

Bill Clinton is well-known for the Monica Lewinsky scandal, which was an infamous situation where Clinton had sexual relations with Lewinsky that he was dishonest about–resulting to a 21-day impeachment trial for perjury in which he was acquitted. Donald Trump has also been frequently critiqued for his purportedly unprofessional behavior–overly colloquial speech, attacking his enemies, and reports of conflicts of interest and ethics concerns–a discussion that is still ongoing to this day.  –Boris Nusinzon
