A Glimpse into NHS Students’ 2024 Summer Plans

As AP tests are quickly approaching, to stay in high spirits, NHS students are keeping a positive mindset. They are choosing to look forward to the day we get to ditch the books and the classrooms for fun-filled vacations and freedom. With the weather quickly rising in temperature, students can’t help but talk of their plans of fun in the sun for the upcoming summer months.

Junior Payton McCulley has plans to go on a trip to the Bahamas with her family. “I am excited because I don’t get to spend a lot of time with them, so getting to be around them in such a nice place will be so fun.” There’s no better place to reunite with family than the tropical beaches of the Bahamas.

NHS Varsity swim team member Carly Damon has plans to stay local this summer, but she is looking forward to keeping her swimming skills sharp even during the summer off-season. Along with being a member of the Montgomery Country Country Club’s high-school club swimming team, Damon also is volunteering to lead some activities the country club hosts. Damon said,  “I’m excited to be teaching little kids how to swim this summer.” Although she’s staying close to home, Damon is eager to enjoy the upcoming hot summer months–helping the community and brushing up on her swimming skills.

Junior Kaitlyn Brewer is putting her plans on wheels this summer and riding off into the sunset with her sister, freshman Rachel Brewer. Kaitlyn said, “I’m most excited for my sister and I to take our first ever road trip alone this summer to South Carolina.” The Brewer sisters are looking forward to blaring their music with the windows down all the way down South.

Regardless of grade level, summer has been heavily on the minds of NHS students. On June 12th at exactly 2:15 P.M., students ditch the textbooks and early mornings for sunglasses and long summer nights–and they couldn’t be more excited.
