Since the year 2000, Chipotle Mexican Grill has been doing the “Boorito” Halloween tradition. It began as a costume contest, but over the years it has become a bargain deal that gets you a $6 entree of your choosing from Chipotle- as long as you show up in a Halloween costume.
Many NHS students have hopped on the “Boorito” bandwagon over the past few years and have made it a tradition to put on their best costume and get themselves a spooky-licious discounted entree from Chipotle. Seniors Payton Mcculley and Zoey Jones are going to Chipotle as a duo. “I am going to be a cop, and Zoey is going to be a prisoner with a tattoo sleeve,” said Mcculley. These two girls are going to make a pitstop for some dinner this Halloween on their way to the county jail. Senior Kadee Thompson is going to Chipotle this Halloween with her younger sister. “I am dressing up as Harry from Home Alone,” said Thompson. Once the younger siblings outgrow the trick-or-treating stage, the Chipotle Halloween stage soon follows. Senior Lilly Mooney is going to Chipotle with her boyfriend this Halloween. “I am dressing up as black panther,” said Mooney. There’s no better way to profess your love for your partner than taking them to Chipotle on Halloween.
These students are ecstatic to go out to Chipotle on Halloween night to receive their signature, built to order entrees. “I can’t wait to get my chicken bowl,” said Mcculley. Both Payton and Zoey get chicken burrito bowls and have very similar orders. Thompson said, “I can’t have my Chipotle bowl without guacamole and the vinaigrette.” Thompson has been perfecting her order for months- and has finally found her perfect Chipotle bowl. Lilly Mooney also gets a chicken burrito bowl, but needs to have Chipotle’s signature chips as her side. “The chips are a must,” said Mooney. “I can’t eat my bowl without them.”
This Halloween is going to be a delicious one for these Northern High School students who are attending Chipotle’s annual “Boorito” Halloween tradition, and they’re very excited to do so. So excited in fact- that many of them are making this a tradition for themselves for every Halloween night (if they haven’t already)!
