We are halfway through the MLB offseason, and some major moves have been made. The biggest signings so far have SP Dylan Cease to the Blue Jays for 210 million over seven years, and 1B Pete Alonso to the Orioles on a five-year, 155-million-dollar deal. Trade-wise, the biggest moves have been the Pirates acquiring 2B Brandon Lowe from Tampa Bay and a player swap between the Rangers and Mets that sent OF Brandon Nimmo to Texas and 2B Marcus Semien to New York.
In local news, the Nationals made a trade with the Mariners, trading key reliever Jose Ferrer, and in return the Nationals acquired top prospect C Harry Ford. In addition to the Pete Alonso signing, the Orioles signed RP Ryan Helsley and re-signed SP Zach Eflin. They also made a few trades for SP Shane Baz, RP Andrew Kittredge; and a major one, acquiring OF Taylor Ward from the Angels for SP Grayson Rodriguez. The top free agents remaining are OF Kyle Tucker, SP Framber Valdez, and OF Cody Bellinger. -Jack Dusek
