This week, a few major trades have gone down in the NFL. Reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett was dealt to the Rams, in exchange for two-time pro-bowler Jared Verse, and a first, second, and third round pick. Garrett will transform this Rams team into the instant favorite for the Super Bowl after losing in the NFC Championship last year. They are now the only team in NFL history to have both the reigning MVP (Matthew Stafford) and DPOY. For the Browns, they are getting off of Garrett’s massive contract and receiving one of the most promising young defensive pass rushers to replace him in Verse.
In other news, three-time All-Pro receiver AJ Brown was sent to the Patriots for a first and fifth-round pick. Brown had a fractured relationship with the organization and QB Jalen Hurts, so although the Eagles won the Super Bowl just two seasons ago, he wanted to move on. This gives Pats QB Drake Maye a real number one option, as although he had a lackluster receiver corps last season, he still managed to bring the Patriots to the Super Bowl and get runner-up in MVP. For the Eagles, it will be a downgrade from Brown, but they knew a trade was most likely coming, so they prepared by drafting WR Makai Lemon, signing Hollywood Brown, and trading for Dontayvion Wicks to help strengthen the Wide Receiver room. –Jack Dusek
