On May 13th, a new pope was selected after Pope Francis’ passing. The conclave lasted one day, and the pope taking the reins was Robert Prevost. Prevost is an American born Catholic Cardinal, making him the first American to serve as Pope. As a Chicago native, Prevost is seen more as progressive on certain stand points in the Catholic Church. His viewpoints on migration, poverty, and LGBTQ rights tend to be more moderate than his peers. -Jenna Dobson
