The rising pop princess, Sabrina Carpenter, released her new album “Man’s Best Friend,” on August 29th, 2025. This is a flirtatious, airy album that visits themes of failed relationships, anger toward men, and girlhood. Carpenter continues with her trademark pop sound while also incorporating a newfound country twang in a few tracks. Throughout the album, there is a noticeable balance of slow R&B and upbeat 80’s disco, making it a great and exciting listen.
Unfortunately, however, before the album’s release there was a significant amount of negative press around Carpenter’s controversial album cover. Through the media’s eyes, the cover was a way to appeal to a male audience, almost as an act of anti-feminism. However, the cover was meant to act as a metaphor. In tracks like, “Nobody’s Son,” and “Manchild,” it’s evident Carpenter often feels let down and disappointed by men, furthering the man hater persona she has crafted through both her music videos and lyrics.

“Manchild,” the album’s lead single, was released June 5th, 2025, nearly 3 months before the full album’s release. This song generated a lot of excitement for the upcoming album because it highlighted Carpenter’s beliefs. Since the release of the album, other songs like, “House Tour,” and “Goodbye,” have gotten to share the spotlight by becoming popular on apps like TikTok.
The songs “Go Go Juice,” and “When Did You Get Hot?” both apply her whimsy, flirty lyrics onto a danceable, electric beat. Carpenter is able to balance her fun, positive outlook with her subtle relationship troubles. Lyrics, “Guess a broken heart doesn’t care that I just woke up,” are quickly contrasted by an unexciting pump in the music with lyrics like, “I’m just drinking to call someone.” The variation of emotions that Carpenters lyrics are able to promote is a talent in its own.
Sabrina Carpenter is nothing short of a true popstar. She’s bold, comical, fun and she creates great albums, appealing to millions of people. “Man’s Best Friend,” was a charismatic album that proved her morals and shows her entering a healing process after a faulty relationship. This album was a great addition to Carpenter’s pop legacy.
