Every year, music lovers, fashion enthusiasts, and influencers unite at the music festival known as Coachella. The event tends to run smoothly, with only a few bumps in the road. But as for Coachella 2025, its disastrous coordination found itself getting comparisons to the infamous Fyre Festival. Here’s a short overview on all that went wrong.
Traffic:
In previous years, Coachella campgrounds opened to the public at around 3 am the Thursday before Coachella officially starts. Attendees would get in line as early as 12:00 in hopes of getting a good spot. Although, this year things went very differently. Attendees got in line as usual, but were refused to be let in until 9 am that morning. Lines of cars spanned for miles, providing a shocking sight for anyone passing by.
Cars in line were left running for up to 12 hours, slowly losing power. Attendees weren’t allowed to leave their vehicles, even for bathroom purposes. Keeping them trapped in a heated car, without access to food or water. Some cars ended up overheating, or completely running out of gas, leaving festivalgoers having to push their cars into the campgrounds. Once inside, attendees still had issues regarding parking due to understaffing. Lots of confusion circled throughout the campgrounds, everyone unsure of what was going on.
Prices:
With an event this large, it’s no surprise that prices would lean to the expensive side. Although, prices this year were far more inflated than guests had ever seen. General Admission tickets cost $599, and that was only for entry to the festival. If they wanted to car camp, that would be an additional $150. Once inside, if attendees wanted something to munch on, they would have to spend no less than $10 for basic items, such as a pizza slice or a coffee. Prices left people in outrage, and wallets hurt.
Crowds:
Coachella was created to bring people together to celebrate music. Although, in current times Coachella has turned into an influencer photo-opp. Attendees and viewers complained on socials regarding how inactive (or ‘dead’) crowds were, not even singing along or dancing to performances. Tarnishing the spirit of the event.
Coachella 2025 most certainly had its flaws. Outrageous traffic, overpriced items, and unenthusiastic crowds. Festivalgoers hope for a better organized and fun experience this following year.
