The summer is right around the corner, and along with that comes pools, vacations, staying up late, going out with friends, things you can’t do during the school year. One thing that comes in the summer is the need to always be outside in the sun.
One way to celebrate the summer is to spend the day at the national park Assateague Island. This island is located about 10 minutes outside of Ocean City, and the main attraction is the wild horses that run freely on the beach. The only area to stay in is the Assateague Island National Seashore campground, which allows those visiting to camp right on the beach. The island is also notorious for surfing and is home to many surf shops right off the island as well.

Another summer hit is spending the day up in D.C, where the city will be filled with flowers and luscious plants. Monuments will be open to the public, for a nice display of history without being in school. A nice place in D.C for the summer is the United States Botanic Garden. This conservatory carries plants such as flowers, cacti, and different trees that range from being native to the DMV, all the way to being found across the globe.

Another idea is doing the ultimate Maryland tradition of a crab feast. Friends and family being around a table, while feasting on Maryland’s most prized food and soaking in the summer sunshine. With hammers flying, butter and vinegar on the table, Although it is usually considered quite pricey, this here is a massive summer highlight you want to cross off your Maryland Summer bucket list.

A creative idea for those who love posting on social media, is going to a flower farm. One of the best ones is Goldpetal Farms, which is located in Chaptico. This farm has a beautiful display of sunflowers, and perfect spots for photo opportunities. The farm also allows those visiting to pick their own flowers out of the beautiful display that the farm carries, so visitors can keep some for themselves.

One last idea is spending the day in Annapolis. Maryland’s capital caters to the warm weather, and the harbor being right there in the view of everything makes sure the city doesn’t end up too humid and sticky. Those spending the day there get to walk the city streets in the sunlight, with the care of cafes, local shops and boutiques that have the perks of A/C.
